That’s How Strong My Love Is

If I was an onion, I’d refuse to be pungent,
and carry with me an enchanting  scent,
so that your eyes would not cry
after you chop me into pieces to fry.

That’s how strong my love is.

If I was a wave in the ocean, I’d emerge low,
and welcome your beautiful body into me with a bow.
I’d give away my property – refuse to be saline,
and let you drink from me – be sweeter than wine.

That’s how strong my love is.

If I was winter, I’d refuse to be cold,
and release you from the blanket’s hold.
I’d let flowers grow in your garden
like those in the forest of Arden.

That’s how strong my love is.

If I was misery, I’d refuse to be sad
and save you from the wraths of a reckless lad.
I’d help you sleep at 2 in the night
and keep the bright moon clear in sight.

That’s how strong my love is.
That’s how strong my love is.
